Patna Moves with Pride: Community Voices Demand Inclusive Transport Solutions

Our recent workshop in Patna, “Moving with Pride,” brought together community members who shared their personal experiences and challenges with public transport. The overwhelming demand was clear: inclusive transport solutions that cater to diverse needs.

Real-Life Stories, Real Change

Community members took the stage to share their daily struggles:

During the workshop, participants emphasized the need for inclusivity in public transport, highlighting the importance of reserved seats for:

  1.  Women
  2.  Disabled individuals
  3.  Senior citizens

However, a critical question arose: why aren’t transgender individuals afforded the same respect and dignity in public transport? Why aren’t there reserved seats or accommodations for them?

A Collective Call to Action

The community’s voices echoed a unified demand:

  1.  Reserved seats for women, disabled individuals, senior citizens, and transgender people
  2.  Accessible and affordable public transport infrastructure
  3.  Sensitivity training for transport staff to ensure dignity and respect for all

They also called for accessible and affordable public transport infrastructure, as well as sensitivity training for transport staff to ensure dignity and respect for all.
