Constitution Day Through the Eyes of Youth Exploring Rights and Responsibilities
The First in a Series Bringing People, Culture, and Mobility to Streets Across Cities
On 26 November 2025, the Patna Zoo became a vibrant hub of learning and dialogue as over 50 students from different colleges gathered to celebrate Constitution Day under the Harit Safar initiative.
Organized by The Climate Agenda, the program provided a platform for youth to connect constitutional principles with their role as responsible citizens. The day began with a collective reading of the Preamble, prompting participants to reflect on equality, liberty, justice, and fraternity in their own lives.
Interactive sessions explored key constitutional articles. Discussions on Article 14 highlighted the importance of equal rights, Article 19 emphasized responsible freedom of expression, and Article 21 linked the right to life with a safe and healthy environment. Articles 48(a) and 51(a)(g) sparked dialogue on environmental protection as a constitutional duty.
Understanding our rights sparks the courage to act.
Students also engaged in group discussions on local environmental challenges and solutions. Ideas ranged from neighborhood cleanliness drives and tree planting to promoting rainwater harvesting and public transport. Each group presented their proposals, encouraging teamwork, leadership, and practical problem-solving.
The event combined reflection, discussion, and action, fostering both constitutional awareness and environmental responsibility among youth.
Students left with a clearer understanding of their rights and duties, practical ways to contribute to society, and a sense of empowerment to lead positive change.
The celebration proved that when young minds unite, learning transforms into action, and every citizen can make a difference.
